A household employment agreement that is clear from day one
What to record when hiring household staff: duties, pay, working times, rest arrangements and a readable copy for each person.
A conversation may feel clear on day one. Months later, remembering which duties or working days were agreed is harder. A written record helps both parties work from the same information.
What to include
- Both parties’ names and contact details.
- Workplace and start date.
- Agreed duties and responsibilities outside the role.
- Working days, hours and rest arrangements.
- Cash pay, frequency and payment method.
- Food or lodging arrangements where relevant.
- How leave, changes and the end of employment will be communicated.
This is an organisational checklist, not a list of requirements attributed to a supposed “Law 42-24”. Articles 258–265 of the Labour Code address domestic work.
Give each person a readable copy
Use plain language, review the document together and provide a copy. Do not ask anyone to sign blank spaces or unexplained conditions. The document should reflect the actual agreement.
Update without losing history
Record salary or schedule changes and their effective dates. Retain the earlier version with the related receipts. HogarStaff helps organise staff contracts and documents; generating a document does not by itself determine whether every term is legally valid.
