A tool for a very Dominican problem
Why we built a household staff management tool specifically for the Dominican Republic, and the principles we follow with legal figures.
Why it exists
Domestic work employs around 252,162 people in the Dominican Republic, more than all the country's free-trade zones combined. Until recently it ran almost entirely informally: as of March 2025, over 92% of the sector still had no social security.
Managing work at home means keeping agreements, payments and time off organised. HogarStaff brings that information together so it does not depend on a notebook or memory.
HogarStaff came out of that: an app that keeps your staff records and does the arithmetic with the right formulas, so compliance does not depend on remembering.
Who it is for
For the Dominican household that employs one or several people: a housekeeper, a nanny, a driver, a gardener. It is not enterprise payroll software forced into a smaller shape, and it is not a job board. It is a tool for managing the people already working with you.
How we work
Every number has an article behind it
No calculator returns a figure without saying where it comes from. If a result rests on article 80, article 80 is shown. You can check every line.
We say what we do not know
We could not confirm the special social security rates for domestic work against an official source, so that line is marked as an estimate and kept separate. We prefer that to inventing precision.
No invented testimonials
There are no fictional customers and no "hundreds of households" on this site. There are Central Bank and statistics office figures, with their source and date.
The calculators really are free
All four calculators explain their formulas and show an itemised result without registration. We do not ask for an email to run your calculations.
Where the figures come from
The market figures on this site come from identified public sources:
- Continuous National Labour Force Survey (ENCFT), Central Bank of the Dominican Republic — sector size and composition.
- MEPyD, using ENCFT data — domestic work generated 245,102 jobs in 2021, against 122,310 in the free-trade zones.
- National Salary Committee — resolutions CNS-01-2025 and CNS-02-2025 for minimum wages.
- Labour Code (Law 16-92), wage resolutions and official sources for employment content.
Where a figure has no verifiable source, it does not appear on the site. Where it has one but is old, it carries its date in plain sight.
