Understand the result

Results depend on the employment regime and inputs. Domestic work has specific rules in articles 258–265; an amount from the general scale does not establish that a household owes it.

Frequently asked questions

How is the Christmas bonus calculated?

Article 219 starts with ordinary salary earned during the year, divided by 12. For a fixed salary, use monthly pay and months worked. If pay changed, first add the amounts actually earned.

When is it due?

Article 220 sets 20 December as the deadline and recognises a proportional amount for an incomplete year. It does not impose a three-month minimum.

What is different for domestic work?

Article 263 recognises the Christmas salary and refers to money paid under article 260. Do not automatically add food and lodging as cash paid. This tool explores a chosen base; establish which components apply.

Important notice

These calculations are estimates based on current Dominican legislation. For specific cases, consult a labour lawyer or the Ministry of Labour.
