Domestic minimum wage: what to check in 2026
The official resolution sets RD$13,000 monthly from May 2025. Distinguish the wage floor from agreed pay and keep a clear record of changes.
The published monthly minimum for domestic work is RD$13,000, under Resolution CNS-02-2025, effective 1 May 2025. The resolution also preserves salaries already above that floor.
The floor is not the agreed salary
An agreement to pay RD$18,000 does not become RD$13,000 because a lower minimum was published. Record the actual agreed amount, frequency and effective date. The minimum also does not establish a market rate in Santo Domingo or Santiago; that would require separate evidence.
Check the sector before updating pay
Make sure the resolution applies to domestic work. Wage bands for large, medium or small businesses address a different sector. Do not automatically apply a business-sector announcement to household employment.
For part-time or day work, establish the applicable treatment before dividing the monthly minimum yourself. A monthly resolution alone does not answer every working arrangement.
Keep the history
Record the previous amount, new amount, effective date and agreement. Retain the receipts for each pay period. This lets you reconstruct what was paid and prevents a changed employee profile from obscuring earlier payments.
